THE MASTERWORKS CHILDREN’S CHORUS is sponsored by the Masterworks Chorale
and shares the same musical objectives of a disciplined and professional
approach to the understanding of music through musicianship, quality
literature and performance.
Founded in 1985, the Masterworks Children’s Chorus is based on the premise
that all children possess the capacity for artistic expression if provided
an opportunity for its nurturing. To achieve its artistic goals the
Children’s Chorus is provided with respected artist/teachers who believe in
the importance of challenging young people to pursue excellence.
In its short history the Chorus has performed with the Saint Louis Symphony
Orchestra and the Bach Society of Saint Louis, and at the Missouri Botanical
Garden for the St. Louis Children’s Art Festival, the Salute to the Masters
Art Festival, and St. Clair County Teachers’ Institute. It has performed on
tour in St. Louis, Chicago, Indianapolis, and Peoria. Every year the
Children’s Chorus performs with orchestra at the Christmas at the Cathedral
concert, presents its own full-length spring and fall concerts, and
participates in the annual Give My Regards to Broadway concert. It also
makes selected appearances at local community events. In 2004 they performed
at Art on the Square in Belleville and sang the National Anthem at a Gateway
Grizzlies Game. In the summer of 2004, they had the opportunity to
work with two of the best known children's chorus conductors in the country:
Josephine Lee and Rollo Dilwirth, both of Chicago.
Rehearsals are held on Thursdays at EDWARD A. FULTON JR. HIGH SCHOOL,
O'Fallon Illinois. The Children’s Chorus is open to children from
grades 3- 12 Rehearsals are from 5:30 - 7:30pm. To schedule an
